Adoption Success Stories

Hi,
I just wanted to give you all an update on "Shadow", the Husky mix we adopted last week. In a nut-shell, she is wonderful. The first night home, she slept in the same room as my husband and I and two cats. She was friendly, but seemed a little distracted. We had gotten her on Thursday and I understand she had been scheduled to be put down, but thankfully she had been given a short reprieve.
By Saturday, she was letting us know when she needed to go out and was being more and more relaxed. She walks well on her lead and has shown no aggression toward the cats or another dog we have.
We finally left her alone for the first time Saturday evening for about an hour and a half. We put the cats out and closed her in the bedroom. Well, Miss Priss evidently was not happy with us being gone. When we came back, she had gotten a large bowl of dry cat chow from the bathroom and scattered it from one end of the bedroom to the other, she had completely taken the toilet seat off, untied a bag and opened the box of dog biscuits that was in it, hid dog biscuits under my husband's pillow, had dog and cat chow all over the bed, and looked like she was going to faint when we walked in. I guess at this point she decided she needed to look cute, so she dumped the rest of her chow in the floor and jumped up on the bed with her bowl in her mouth. I really wish I'd had a camera.....the look on her face was priceless. It was hilarious.
On Sunday our 3 year old grandson was there when we came back from Pet-Smart with Shadow. I didn't realize that he was there until we started in and I wanted to have her on her lead when she met him for the first time....too late.....she went bounding through the house and when I caught up with her, she was with the baby. He was wrapped around her neck hugging her and she was kissing him all over his face. She obviously loves children. The only problem they had was when he had the dog's squeaky duck and she took it away from him and carried it through the house. That's another thing she does......she picks up shoes, toys, just whatever strikes her fancy and carries them all over the house. She never chews anything, she just carries it around. She is absolutely delightful. Once she realized that when we leave, we are coming back, she stopped dumping the cat chow, but it took about 3-4 times of cleaning it up. And oh yeah, she did hide a piece of a jelly biscuit under my husband's pillow and ate Logan's (the grandbaby) Happy Meal.
She is a character and we absolutely love her. Thank you so much for sparing this wonderful animal's life. She is an absolute joy and one of the smartest, sweetest dogs we've ever had.
We will be having her spayed in the next few days, but I want to donate the adoption fee to the shelter. Maybe, sometimes if an animal can be given just an extra day or two, they may find a family that loves them as much as we love Shadow. Thank you again!
